BBC Primary School Languages: French, Spanish & Welsh
link
The BBC has fun resources to help elementary aged kids learn French, Spanish and Welsh. These are the first free resources I've found that go beyond the absolute basics (i.e. colors, numbers, and a couple phrases) while remaining fun and appropriate for younger kids.
The Primary Spanish program can be found here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/primaryspanish/ The basics are covered in the Start Here section, then Learn More goes beyond that with a large collection of lessons, and the Festivals lesson provides an opportunity to review (and maybe an end of year celebration?) The Teachers' Guide includes lesson plans, worksheets, and other teaching support.
The Primary French program is a substantially more complete program than Primary Spanish. It includes lessons to cover all of Primary French 1 and 2. There are video lessons, games, and printable worksheets. The teachers' guide offers advice for teaching each lesson. Everything that is required for the course is available online for free.
The Welsh program seems to be a fun way to learn some basics, and gain some familiarity with the language. There are videos, some games, and the story of Goldilocks translated into Welsh.
