Description
Travel to Louisiana with Grammy award winning artist Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience as they share Creole culture and history through Zydeco music. The Creoles of Southern Louisiana are a blend of African, French, Spanish and Native American people. Playing the accordion, rubboard, drums, keyboard and guitar, Mr. Simien and his band take you on a multicultural musical tour that will have you up and dancing!
THE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION
How can I possibly know if I'll be available nine months from now?
You can't guarantee it. For all you know, you might be living overseas come February.
What you can do is make two personal commitments: (1) to attend if you are able and (2) to find a replacement for your family if you're not. Both commitments are equally important, and you shouldn't register for this event if you're not willing to make both of them.
You'll receive an email reminder four weeks before the performance (and a second reminder four days before). If your circumstances have changed, those four weeks will give you plenty of time to sell your tickets.
To give you a sense of the situation, last season I had 26 families register in April 2009 for a February 2010 performance and 5 of them chose to transfer their tickets when the early reminder was sent out in January 2010. All 5 families found replacements successfully.
Be forewarned that as stated in the Cancellation Instructions below, YOU will be responsible for the transfer. You will post to Homeschool Adventures that the tickets are available. Interested persons will contact you directly about the tickets. Reimbursements will be handled between you and your substitute. You will inform me of the transfer.
Payment information
Payment must be received by: Fri, May 28, 2010 - 12:00pm
- Immediately after you register, you will be sent an email confirmation and payment instructions from "admin [at] homeschoolrecess [dot] com". Make sure your email filters recognize this address as a legitimate sender. If you don't receive this email, please check your spam, junk or bulk mail folder. Contact the organizer if you are unable to find it; if you receive no response to your email, please call the organizer. ----------
- Please forward your payment instructions to the organizer to confirm your registration or send your payment the same day that you register. You are not officially registered until you either forward the message or the organizer receives your payment. If the organizer doesn't hear from you one way or the other within 72 hours, your family will BE removed from the registration list. This protects the organizer from non-payment due to payment instructions blocked by overly aggressive spam protection.
- When the organizer receives your payment, you will be emailed a payment receipt from admin [at] homeschoolrecess [dot] com. The organizer updates payment records daily. If you've sent your payment and haven't received a payment confirmation, please contact the organizer by email or phone.
- Please make your payment promptly. If the organizer doesn't receive payment by the payment deadline, your family may be removed from the registration list.
Cancellation information
Cancellation deadline: Fri, May 28, 2010 - 12:00pm
* If you must cancel for any reason after the cancellation deadline, you will be responsible for finding someone to take your family's reserved places and for letting the organizer know about the substitution. * Reimbursements will be handled privately between you and your substitute. * Please remember that these performances are heavily subsidized which means that someone else is bearing the brunt of the cost of your family's attendance. Empty seats are not acceptable. Barring the most dire of emergencies, you must either attend or send a replacement. * This performance is sold out. * No refunds will be issued after the cancellation deadline. * Please do not register for this event unless you're able to make a personal commitment to attend barring illness or other unexpected emergency. * If your circumstances change and you find that are unable to attend, please let the organizer know as soon as possible via email. * If you find that you are unable to attend on the day of the event, please let the organizer know as soon as possible by email or phone. * Please also attempt to find a last-minute substitute for your family. It is not acceptable to just not show up.

Please arrive by:
Please plan to arrive no later than 10am in order to have plenty of time to find parking, check in with the organizer, visit the bathrooms and otherwise prepare to be promptly seated at 10:10am. We will be seated as a group, and the Ordway requests that our entire group be present at that time. Please plan to be early to avoid being late due to inadequate maps, confusing road signs, road construction, heavy traffic, parking difficulties, inclement weather or uncooperative children. If you find that despite your best efforts, you are running unavoidably late, please let the organizer know! You may reach the organizer by phone or email on the day of the event.
Where to meet:
Please meet the organizer to the right of the main entrance on the short flight of stairs in the lobby. The organizer will be wearing a bright yellow hat and a Homeschool Adventures button. Please retrieve your receipt from the organizer when you arrive as this is how she will check-in participants.
Food policy:
There is no food, drink, or gum allowed in the theater.
Alternate plans:
This Homeschool Adventure will not be cancelled due to weather. Please plan accordingly and dress appropriately.
