Let’s Get Growing! Spring brings new life to the farm! Farmers are busy caring for baby animals and preparing and planting the fields and gardens. Discover what’s growing on the farm by planting in the greenhouse or gardens and visiting the barn’s new arrivals.
This program runs concurrently with the Farm Discovery class for ages 2 through 6,
- Parents must accompany children ages 2-5 (preschool-kindergarten) in the role of educators and chaperones.
- Parents of children ages 6 and up (grade 1 and up) are also invited to participate in the class as educators and chaperones, but are not required to do so.
- Parents may expect to be asked to assist the Farm Educators.
- All ages will be together during food preparation, crafts, hikes, and outdoor activities. (Given the cold weather, parents with infants are not expected to accompany their preschoolers and kindergarteners for outdoor activities.)
- The groups will separate for work in the barn where the older children will engage in more advanced animal care and farm chore activities.
- Older children who do not wish to separate from their parents are welcome to remain with their parents and younger siblings, but younger children may not join the group for older children.
There is a minimum of 8 children (or $64) for this program to be held. If there is insufficient enrollment, the class may be merged with the Farm Discovery class for ages 2 through 6, which means that animal care and farm chore tasks will be appropriate for that age group. Participants will be informed if this happens and given the option of canceling their registration if they prefer. Maximum class size is 12 children.
