Homeschool Adventure: A T-Rex Named Sue - Stearns History Museum & Research Center
Cost for Children under 5: $0.00
Cost for Adults: $4.00
DESCRIPTION: Sue was a Tyrannosaurus rex, one of the largest flesh-eaters to have ever inhabited the earth, and is about 67 million years old. At 42 feet long and 12 feet high, Sue is the largest, most complete, and best-preserved Tyrannosaurus rex of the just 22 ever discovered. The Field Museum spent more than 30,000 hours preparing the more than 250 bones and teeth in Sue's skeleton for traveling throughout the world. Sue is a fully articulated replica and is accompanied by ten separate displays. We will receive an introduction to Sue and then enjoy a self-guided tour of the interactive learning stations before gathering on the lower level to talk to curators extensively familiar with Sue who will walk us through her history and answer any questions we may have. After our bag lunch in the conference room, you will be free to explore the remainder of the museum on your own.
