Description
Come hear and see the history of these sandstone caves. You will explore the original mined caves and see the finished caves (once a romantic night club called The Castle Royal). Hear the legends of the mobster massacres and ghostly lore in the most unique setting from Chicago to San Francisco as narrated by a knowledgeable, talented, and entertaining Down in History tour guide.
The former Castle Royal is kept heated to 65-70 degrees. The sandstone part of the cave is about 55 degrees year-round. Please plan to dress accordingly.
The Wabasha Street Caves were featured on the History Channel's "Secret Passages."
Younger children may enjoy the Historic Cave Tour which begins at 10am.

Additional information
Please arrive by:
Please plan to arrive no later than 10:45am in order to have plenty of time to find parking, check in with the organizer, visit the bathrooms and otherwise prepare for our program to start promptly at 11am. Please plan to be early to avoid being late due to inadequate maps, confusing road signs, road construction, heavy traffic, parking difficulties, inclement weather or uncooperative children. If you find that despite your best efforts, you are running unavoidably late, please let the organizer know! You may reach the organizer by phone or email on the day of the event.
Where to meet:
Please meet the organizer in the parking lot outside caves, near Grumpy Steve's Coffee, unless directed elsewhere by the staff. The organizer will be wearing a bright yellow hat and a Homeschool Adventures button. Please retrieve your receipt and name badges from the organizer when you arrive as this is how she will check-in participants. Wabasha Street Caves requests that children not be allowed to play on the cave's hillside while waiting for the event to begin. NOTE: If I am not in the parking lot at 10:45, then I am still in the caves on the first tour. Please be patient, as I will be out soon.
Food policy:
No food or beverages in the caves, please, but come early or stay late to enjoy delicious food at Grumpy Steve's.
Alternate plans:
This Homeschool Adventure will not be cancelled due to weather. The former Castle Royal is kept heated to 65-70 degrees. The sandstone part of the cave is about 55 degrees year-round. Please plan accordingly and dress appropriately.
Parking information:
There is free parking in the lot on site. There should be more than enough room for anyone, but, if need be, there is overflow parking in the HealthPartners lot across the street.
