Imagination Fair Exhibit Catalog

Info for Exhibitors | Info for Mentors | Info for Advertisers

You'll treasure the Imagination Fair’s Exhibit Catalog as a remembrance of your child's hard work and creativity. This keepsake is chock full of wonderful photos and fascinating information about the Exhibits, the 5-Minute Mentors and our supporters.

  1. All Exhibitors have an Exhibit Preview — a whole quarter page for a photo of themselves or of their projects or of themselves with their projects plus a short description of their projects, themselves and their interests.

Example of a 2016 Exhibit Catalog Exhibit entry:

  1. All 5-Minute Mentors also have a Mentor Preview — a quarter page for a photo and a bio!

  1. And there's space for advertising — these ads help to cover the costs of creating this amazing event so that participation fees stay low!

Information for Exhibitors

Exhibit Catalogs

  • All Exhibitors receive a quarter-page listing in the Exhibit Catalog for a photo and brief bio about themselves and/or their Exhibit.
    • A quarter page is about 5-inches wide by 1¾-inches high.
  • To allow time for formatting, proofing and printing, please plan to have your Exhibit Catalog information to the Volunteer Event Organizers at least 2 weeks prior to the Imagination Fair. Late entries, however, will be accepted up until the date I go to the printers.
    • If you have not settled on a project by then worries! Just submit a bio about yourself rather than a project description.
  • A parent or legal guardian must also submit a Photography Release Form.
    • If you don't want the Volunteer Event Organizers to use photos of your child(ren) to promote the Imagination Fair, it's extra important that you complete that Photography Release Form because that is how you let the Volunteer Event Organizers know you don't want them to do that.
  • Exhibitors are asked to submit the following information (as applicable)
    1. Your name.

    2. Your exhibit title.

    3. A brief description of your Exhibit and/or a brief bio about you.
      • No longer than 300 characters (which is about 60 words or about 3 sentences).
        • If you just need to add a couple more words, it’s probably okay. Just send an email to let Volunteer Event Organizers know the exact phrasing for the printed Exhibit Catalog. If you need to add ten more words, it just won’t fit, but you should feel free to ask the Volunteer Event Organizers for help with editing it to fit.
      • Please write your description and/or bio in the first person. (That is, say “I made this,” instead of “S/he made that,” or “Jamie made that”).
      • Have fun! Be silly! Be serious! Whatever you write will be practically perfect in every way!

    4. Your age (on the day of the Imagination Fair). (Add a year if you’ll have a birthday between now and the Imagination Fair!)

    5. The city where you live.

    6. Any homeschool groups to which your belong. Give a shout-out to your homeschool support network!

    7. A print-quality digital photo of either you or your project (completed or in-process) or you with your project!
      • To ensure print quality, please send a larger image file rather than a smaller one.
      • You may upload a jpg, png, gif, or tif image file via the online form. If you need to send a different file format (bpg, pdf, psd, pxm, etc.), just submit it via email.
      • Images will be printed at about 1¾-inches high.
      • Keep in mind that wider images will reduce the amount of space available for text! Your description/bio may be edited to make room.
      • You may upload one image for the website and send a different image for the Exhibit Catalog. Just send the Exhibit Catalog image via email. (Explain why you are sending it!)
      • The Exhibit Catalog will be printed in grayscale, but you may upload a full color image — the full color image will be shown on the website.
      • If you are not the copyright holder for the photo you wish to use (that is, you did not take the photo yourself), please get permission to use it. If the Imagination Fair needs to give credit to the photographer wherever it is used (for example, © Photo Studio), include that information, too.

  • If you are feeling stuck, take a look at what's been done before. You don't need to reinvent the wheel!

  • Entries may be edited for space considerations, as well as for spelling and grammar correction.
  • Please proofread your submission carefully. Email any corrections or changes promptly.
  • You may revise your entry and change your photo up until the day the Exhibit Catalog goes to the printers! Revisions are not a hassle. Honestly, the Volunteer Event Organizers have mastered cut-and-paste. It is better to send something today and then update it later than risk having a blank entry in the Exhibit Catalog.
    • Website images and descriptions may be changed even after the Exhibit Catalog has been printed.
    • Project Titles and Descriptions for the Participation Certificate usually match the Exhibit Catalog entry but may be revised up until noon on the Wednesday prior to the Imagination Fair (when printing begins).

The only thing that is “required” for the Exhibit Catalog is your name. Everything else is optional — although an exhibit title, a brief bio and a picture are greatly appreciated!
