The Smithsonian has linked to a broad range of materials here, including history, science, art and culture.  A good first source for material or information.  Some topics include lesson plans, and all are fully referenced.  The entries are aimed at adults, but most topics are appropriate for children. It is all available for free.

Homeschool Science Club: Zoology

Science Museum of Minnesota

5-6 year olds will determine what makes an animal an animal, observe some animals up close and make a habitat for a living creature. 7-9 year olds will look at the difference between plant and animal cells through a microscope, see how scientists sort animals by groups, and explore animal adaptations through hands-on activities. 10-13 year olds will use motion modules to create creatures with characteristics from the zoological world.
When: Friday, Oct 30; 1-4 p.m.
Fee: $28, $25 mbr
